Neck muscle spasms
If you have ever played football or any other contact sports you may have had neck muscle spasms. It is a cramp in your neck where your neck muscles can’t contract. Besides sports, neck muscle spasms can be caused by poor posture, sleeping in an uncomfortable position or stress.

- There are many ways to relieve the pain of neck muscle spasm
- Stretching is good unless the pain is too uncomfortable to move
- Getting a massage is good for the muscles whether you have spasms or not.
- Apply ice to the sore area
- Try over the counter anti-inflammatory medicine
- If all else fails see your doctor
Another term that is similar to neck muscle spasms is a Burner which is an injury to one or more nerves between your neck and shoulder, there is a burning or tingling feeling between your neck and shoulder. Commonly found among those playing contact sports.
